Arrived in San Diego the day before scheduled surgery. While waiting for the shuttle van to pic me up, I found Monica. A sweet gal from Fort Valley, Georgia. We began to talk and found we had much in common. She was my angel to keep me uplifted through this process.
When we arrived at the hospital there was to be a change of plan. The surgery was bumped to the day of arrival. Three of us met with Dr. Almanza and found he had time to do our surgeries that day. SURPRISE! They whisked us away to prepare for surgery. That turned out to be a real blessing in more ways than I will go into here.
Within an approximate two hour period all three of us were helping each other through what seemed to be a very long night. Gayle, from Thatcher, AZ, a doctor, was our other new found friend which I also found things in common.
The experience at the hospital could have been more quiet. I think this was due to individual/s in the next room that must not have been aware of how much noise came down the hall. The three of us had issues with different kinds of discomfort which kept us up through the night. But, I expected to not have a restful nights sleep in the hotel anticipating the original surgery date so this to me was another blessing.
Dr. Almanac, very handsome, capable, and humbly confident. He was very personable and took his time with every question we had. I had become more confident after meeting with him.
The hotel, although smaller than what you come to expect in the States, was comfortable and clean. They were very attentive to our every need.
The nursing staff and doctor all made me feel nothing I needed was an inconvenience. They made sure I understood all I needed to know. If I couldn't understand something they made sure there was an interpreter there that could help.
Since the surgery was performed a day early I'll be leaving a day early which is to my benefit. So,all in all, I believe my experience has been a good one.
