Hi all,
A bit of history. I'm just shy of 50, was borderline morbidly obese, high blood pressure, size 42 waist and gaining weight slowly but surely every year. Our medical system in Canada allows surgeries of this type if you are willing to pay and I was definatly willing to pay. Unfortunately or fortunatly the system is nearly impossible to access. Waiting time 6 month just for the psyche evaluation.
Went on-line and found Jerusalem Hospital, sent E-mail and was confirmed within 24 hours.
The hospital was more like a clinic in Canada. Clean and courtious for sure just not a Canadian hospital. I'd asked for surgery on a Thursday to take advantage of the week-end for return travel. Quite a few people had the same idea. Not a problem, just be aware. The surgery went off without a hitch and we were all moving around within hours of the surgery. The return trip was rough. I would not recommend walking around Tijuana for 5 hrs the day before departure.
Some unexpected side effects.
One of the sutures did not close like the rest. No problem, just a little concerned.
Every now and then I have heartburn where I've almost never had before. Not a huge issue.
I was cold, realy realy cold. Went away when I increased calorie intake.
Followed the recommended meal plan most of the time. Stuck to the protein drink for breakfest and lunch and regular small portions for supper for a full 4 month. Weight plateaue at 70 bls weight loss.
Fast forward 9 month post surgery. Have not gained any weight since plateau. With the money I saved by going to Jerusalem Hospital we went to Europe for 2 weeks. Weight gain with good food and lots to drink was minimal. Life is good, very good.
