Dr Almanza's office called and asked if I would like to come in on the 6th to do pre-op so I could be first in the morning of the 7th. I did this. I was actually the second surgery the day. I was under quickly, and back out in recovery, where they took very good care of the 2 of us in the room.
I had no issues with pain at all, which was great. I had no issues with throwing up, or gagging, as my roommate did. I was completely fine. The only issue I can say I have suffered from is the never ending gas ball. I find that the gas x strips are almost useless, tho if I didn't have them who knows how bad it would be.
The club house is very nice, but if you have sleep issues as I do, I strongly recommend a private room at the hotel. The club house was full so the hospital sent us there saying they would pay for the hotel. Of course they would only pay for it if we doubled up in a room. I opted to just pay for the private room. I finally got some sleep! The rooms were very nice as it is a 4 star hotel.
The free otterpops and broth, at the hotel were a great, and really hit the spot. The shopping on day 3 was great too. I would highly recommend anyone needing gastric surgery to go to Jerusalem hospital. They have it down to an art form. All 10 or so of us that went for the leak test passed so none of us had any complications.
If I had any complaint at all, it would be the stairs...heavy people with bad knees, and stairs don't mix well. But aside from that it was an amazing experience. Dr Almanza's staff is friendly and caring, and take great care of us. Edgar is a sweetie, Hector has a great sense of humor, and all the drivers were very friendly and all are very helpful.
