My decision to have the gastric sleeve done at the Jerusalem Hospital by Dr. Almanza has been the right decision for me and one that took a huge amount of dedication and thought.
I researched, read, watched, and talked to as many people and sources (including my medical practitioner in all steps) so that I could aide myself in what to expect and what was required of me in this process.
I have a complicated medical history and knew that there may even be a chance that I would not be accepted as a patient and that if I was there would be a huge commitment on my part to follow instructions and help with the positive changes that were ahead of me.
Once I received confirmation and was certain I was ready for it and knew that this was what I wanted I paid for my surgery, the appointment was made with Dr. Almanza and his group, and I focused on my preparations for surgery.
The trip to San Diego was a rough one (due to flight connections, fog and human error) but once the driver, Christian, picked us up at the airport and drove us across the border to the Clinic in Tijuana the real adventure began.
The staff at the clinic are all very caring people and work extremely hard to make the experience as smooth as possible but have many patients to provide for. If you require any extra help or need more support I recommend that you bring a family member or friend to help you.
As with any surgery there is a large portion of care that you must provide for yourself in order for it to be a success. I have lost 72 pounds since my surgery in August and swim twice a week and enjoy walking my dog on a daily basis.
This is a life long commitment and I am quite happy with my decision to trust the Jerusalem Hospital, it's staff and Dr. Almanza with my Gastric Sleeve surgery. It is now time to take care of me and so far I have made a wonderful start.
