I have been an RN for 20 years. I decided to go to Dr. Almanza after doing a lot of online research and the fact that my insurance would not cover the surgery. Price was not my first consideration since there are many bariatric surgeons in Mexico and other places outside the US that are about the same price wise or within a few thousand. I was never stalled or put off regarding any questions by the staff, I was able to go online and see the clinic, the procedure and get video testimonials from past patients. There is risk in any surgery in any country (far more in the US than you will ever read about). I had a very good experience, the procedure was done quickly and efficiently. The clinic was very clean and was being cleaned continuously every time I went in. There are plenty of staff that are fluent in english (my spanish is very limited).
All in all if I had to make this choice again I would go back to Dr. Almanza. There were 3 clients in the van with me post op that had come back for plastic surgery to tighten up a bit, all were a year or more out and all had chosen to come back to this clinic for their follow up surgery. I am very happy that I had this done, I was on my way to multiple comorbities due to having a BMI of 47. This surgery will hopefully keep that from being my future. I am down 30 lbs to day and I am less than 2 months out. My goal is 100 lbs and I have no doubt that is attainable now.
