Hello to those who are thinking of using Dr. Almanza for a bariatric surgery. He literally saved my life! I am 22 and have struggled with weight my whole life. My parents tried everything to help but I kept gaining weight. In 2005, as a teenager, I had a gastric lap band surgery and had that for close to five years. I hated it and was miserable at of the time with throwing up and heart burn. I had the band removed after high school thinking that I could lose weight on my own but the exact opposite happened and I gained an additional 150 lbs. in a year and a few months. My heaviest weight was about 520 lbs. I couldn't get health insurance and I had diabetes. I couldn't get a good job either but I didn't qualify for help. My mom looked for help everywhere, even clinical trials but no one would take me without insurance and they all wanted me to lose weight before a surgery. Then we found weightlossagents.com on line and within two weeks I was in Mexico having my gastric sleeve surgery. The experience was awesome. My mom went with me and we were both nervous going out of country, but really what was the alternative? So, we researched everything we could about Dr. Almanza and the Jerusalem Hospital. I watched all the videos from other people that had already been there and that helped a lot.
My experience was just like the other patients described. The place was very clean, small but clean. The hotel is very nice. My mom even went running while she was there. The people were very nice and helped me with anything I needed. The hotel had nurses or young men who would come to the room if you were in pain or having any problems. I meant friends that I still talk with on Facebook and now feel like a have a fighting chance at life. Now I talk about when I get thin. I have lost about 90 lbs. in two months. I lost 70 in under three weeks! I walk daily now and even started sit-ups and weight training. I feel positive and happy.
Side note: I would recommend having someone go with you to Mexico, but there were many patients alone but they are put with a room mate, so you don't stay alone for long.
Please feel free to contact me or my mom with questions or concerns. Oh, the roads are bumpy in TJ so be prepared. Not much the doc can do about that.:)
