My family was against the surgery and especially my choice of location!!! But after several more failed attempts at dieting, I decided to do it anyway. I can't say I was even nervous, just excited. Everyone was nice especially the other patients. It was a chance to make life long buddies . We all ate broth and Popsicles and waited for various aspects of our procedures. We shopped in Tijuana which was lots of fun. I never would've imagined being able to get up walk around so easily. My suggestion is to follow the preop diet as closely as possible because it will help you after surgery. The pain feels like I did too many crunches or maybe got kicked in the gut...not as bad as I thought it'd be. The only problems I had with the whole thing was being too crowded and so much waiting around; such as waiting your turn or waiting on a driver or too many people in a small space. Those things were minor. Yes , there is a language barrier with most of the staff but there's always someone to help translate. The hotel truly was great, Dr Almanza is very attractive, nurses are experienced. The idea to go for a sleeve in Tijuana was not taken lightly and it ended up being a great experience overall. My advice to you is DO IT now, don't wait. You'll be glad .
