I have struggled with weight since I turned 50 and because of my family history my health outlook was not good. My doctor told us a list of 15+ conditions that I would have if I didn't get the weight under control. In his office, the decision was made to have the surgery. It didn't take us months to decide or schedule. In fact, we decided the first of May to have the surgery when I got out of school the end of May. I had a young friend who had the procedure in May 2014 so I was somewhat familiar with how things should go. But I was pleasantly surprised with their level of commitment and efficiency throughout the entire process.
First, it was a Sunday evening when I registered on line and I immediately got a email and text response. I called and they gave us information so that I could select and verify my surgery date, departure and return dates. Everything went so smoothly. With a good paper experience behind me, I was ready for my trip and surgery.
My surgery date arrived and it went well. The nursing staff, including the other doctors who run test were very professional, polite and attended to my needs. My procedure went well and I had no complications. The night of the surgery, I was up and walking around and I did not have any pain. Of course, they give you a saline drip which include antibiotics and pain medicine.
The next morning, I went back to the hotel and the nurse at the hotel came and started my IV and verified that I was all right. The nurse checked on me two to three times a day and encouraged me to walk or commended me for my efforts to walk.
The entire process from scheduling the surgery-- to having the surgery -- to recuperating-- to the trip home was very well orchestrate. I would whole heartedly recommend Dr. Almanza to anyone considering the GVS surgery.
I am dong well, loosing weight and enjoying my future prospect of life with my grandchildren and husband.
