I had my procedure with Dr. Almanza on October 15, 2012. I began the pre-op diet on October 5, 2012. As I sit here right now, thinking of what to write and how to place the words in the proper sequence, which words to even select, I sit here with a smile on my face. My journey has been great, for starters. I weighed in on October 5, 2012 at a whopping 476 pounds. After 10 days of pre-op dieting, which really was not that difficult, I stepped on the scale in Mexico at 466 pounds. Today, I am happy to report that I am 336. That's a total loss thus far of 140 pounds or just about a pound per day. My pant size has gone from 60 to 46 and my shirt from 6X to 3X. Amazing!!!!
Now, I realize that my results are not indicative of what everyone should expect. We are all different and will have our own variations in how we progress with this procedure. But I am happy and love the results so far. Has it been easy? Yes, and no. Overcoming the addiction to food is the hardest part. The surgery is easy and basically painless. The mental adaptation is clearly the highest hurdle to clear and will always require me to remain disciplined and in tune with the tool that I have to control my weight. Everyone reading this will deal with this too, in one way or another.
I am happy to report that my personal life is better as well. People notice the change and almost always make comments about the changes they have seen. I have a much higher self esteem and a stronger level of self confidence. Being divorced for seven years left me always feeling alone. I have now started dating again, which is another new adventure, and have found, well, to put it straight, a much higher success rate with the opposite sex. ;o)
To summarize, nothing but positives come from this life changing event. Being strong mentally, disciplined in mind and body and committed to the change are the keys to my success. They can be yours as well if you are up to the challenge and WANT to make the change for you and only for YOU........
