After researching for a year and having a consultation with an American Bariatrics doctor who explained every type of procedure to me, I felt comfortable with my decision to get this procedure. The experience was good. Flew in to San Diego, waited with 20 other patients and their family members, got into the 3rd van and was taken immediately to the hospital. We had our pre labs done and waited for several hours before it was my turn. When I came out I was really groggy and was up at 2:00 am walking to get the air out of my body. It was nearly impossible to release any of it, and the gas strips were not helpful. You Have To Walk Walk walk! There is a drain tube hanging from your stomach but it clips onto your pants so there is no weight making it uncomfortable. I tucked mine inside my pant seam. The surgery itself did not hurt. My incisions did not hurt. I felt great and we, like everyone else, went shopping 2 days after. The main thing is to do Exactly what the nurses tell you to do. Wash, remove your gauze and wash your incisions, spray them with the provided spray and replace with new. Take care of your body! Take the HORRIBLE UNCOATED ANTIBIOTICS! I feel great, I take my vitamins and Nexium for my Acid Reflux. I now have the ability to train for a 5k and it feels wonderful! I am going to be a runner!
