I had my surgery on May 28, 2015. Arrived at hospital and was suppose to be doing pre-op and surgery was scheduled for next day. Dr. Almanza wasn't very busy that day, so we were asked if we wanted to go ahead and do it that day, and although nervous, was really excited about doing it early, plus had been on liquid diet for 9 days and was starving, lol. I met a couple awesome girls that day, and the next day, met up with some girls that I had been talking to that I met on the gastric sleeve forum, they are all awesome and without these new friendships and the support they each give, this would have been scary doing it alone. My awesome husband went with me and to this day he has supported me tremendously. I have lost around 25 pounds since day 1 of liquid diet, and I can't wait to see what my future me is going to feel like and look like. Anyone nervous about the process, don't be, everyone from the driver that picks you up from airport, to the nurses at the hotel are awesome. The staff at hospital are very attentative and friendly. Dr. Almanza is awesome and makes everyone calm as possible. Great experience, and for the guest that come with the patient, you have to try the taco stand by hotel, my husband said its awesome. Be sure to take a cab to Revolution Blvd, great souveniors, just be careful, they will give your guests free shots of tequila, mine didn't mind, lol, even bought him some to take home. Everyone was really nice and not the worrysome trip I thought it was going to be. Take the challenge and do this for yourself, sad that we have to go to another country to get the healthcare we need, but a great experience and mini vacation all in one, and a whole lot cheaper than in the states. Thanks everyone for your great support and care, you saved my life.
