I had the Gastric Sleeve procedure done on December 5, 2014 by Dr. Almanza. The surgery and experience went pretty close to how Weight Loss Agents explained with their information. I was in more pain than I thought I would be, but it was explained to me and the nursing staff kept up on the pain meds and nausea medicine.
The real experience for my little group of sleevers happened that first night while in the hospital. We received the message through text from a loved one that the Hotel Ticuan was on fire. Four of us had family staying there that night. It was a very scary, stressful situation for all.
This situation could have been devastating, but in the end, all our loved ones made it out safely and Dr. Almanza's staff went above and beyond to help us and especially our loved ones that were left with the clothes they got out with. A huge thank you to Hugo who tirelessly worked all weekend. He went out the next morning and bought each person clothes, shoes and a jacket for every patient and loved one. He also ensured that everyone had a place to sleep and they also provided meals for them. Another shout out to Emily (I hope that is her name), the nurse. She spoke English very well and was able to keep us all informed about the situation. She had a lot on her hands as many of us were under a lot of stress which caused many of us to be overly nauseated. She also worked a 24 hour shift to help.
Nester and other drivers were also very helpful working all weekend to transport patients and loved ones. I was very impressed by all of this staff, especially because this situation was out of their hands.
Overall, I would have loved to stay in the hotel after my surgery, but circumstances kept that from happening. The staff ensured that we were comfortable in the hospital and went above and beyond to ensure we were all safe and comfortable. I would recommend Dr. Almanza and his staff to anyone!
Another thank you to Christian, who worked long and hard all weekend to keep the hospital very clean.
