Hello fellow Sleevers;
Let me begin by saying i am 2 months post-op and i feel really good.
My journey began 9/21/14 from Florida to San Diego and i have to say this was the worst part of this entire journey outside of the drinking the dye for the leak test. )
I had my surgery on 9/22/14 with Dr. Almanza and must say everything went exceptionally well. I awoken from surgery with NO pain, nausea or heartburn, the only minor discomfort i had was the gas bubbles which was not painful but bothersome. I walked as advised by previous sleevers until i could not walk anymore which i must say really helped.
The Hospital was OK, not what you would find in the U.S. but it does the job. The nursing were all very pleasant, some were aware of aseptic technique during care and some were not. I had to tell several of the nurses at various interaction to clean the port before administering meds as they just come and insert meds w/o any cleaning of the site.
The Hotel Ticuan is beautiful and the staff there is also very attentive, there were a few there that I also had to instruct to clean sites before meds was given, but overall they were wonderful!
The second day i was up and about outdoors sight seeing and exploring Tijuana with my new found friends. My only regret to date is that i didn't do the surgery sooner. Dr. Almanza's photos does him no justice, he is truly handsome, appearing as if he just step out of a Men's Fitness photo shoot. We were taken on day three to the local mall for souvenirs shopping.
For those contemplating the VGS, I highly recommended it. My only issue with myself is that i constantly have the urge to chew or have something in my mouth to eat, even though i am not hungry. I have not feel hunger since having this surgery. As of today i have lost 44 lbs. I still have a ways to go but this is my beginning. "Thank you Dr. Almanza!
